Weeks 6 -12
A reassuring glimpse of your pregnancy between your positive test and your NHS dating scan. We confirm viability, visualise your baby’s heartbeat, and date your pregnancy.

Before your Scan
Please arrive with a full bladder (drink one pint of water one hour before).

We often carry out a transvaginal scan before 10 weeks (at no extra cost) to provide a clearer view. This is performed after the initial abdominal scan, with an empty bladder.

Weeks 12-24

A glimpse at your baby’s wellbeing to visualise little ones heartbeat and movements. Measurements will be taken to make sure the baby is growing well.

From 15 Weeks

A look at your baby’s wellbeing - see the heartbeat and movements, check growth, and discover your baby’s gender (revealed during the scan or sealed in an envelope for later).

• Listen to heartbeat from 15 weeks
• See baby’s movements
• Measures baby’s growth and development

• Confirms gender (or keeps it a surprise in a sealed envelope)

• Complimentary heartbeat recording as a keepsake

Please Note
We advise not arranging gender reveal parties on the same day or the day after your scan. Sometimes babies are shy, and a follow-up appointment may be needed.
 

Weeks 19-23

A detailed ultrasound performed from 19 weeks, ideally between 20 and 22 weeks - to assess your baby’s development and screen for 11 conditions that may be life-limiting or require treatment after birth.

From 24 Weeks

This scan assesses your baby’s development through detailed measurements, reviews anatomy, and checks how well the placenta is functioning.

What’s Included

• Checks baby’s position
• Visualises heartbeat and movements
• Measures head, abdomen, and femur length to track growth
• Assesses amniotic fluid levels 
• Measures placental blood flow to ensure efficient function
• Includes a diagnostic ultrasound report (can be used by a midwife to update your growth chart) 
• Two black & white prints of your choice

Before Your Scan:
No need for a full bladder.

There is a £20 surcharge for multiple pregnancies with this scan.

Baby's position may limit clear views later in pregnancy.

Weeks 26-32

A special glimpse of your baby in real time, captures precious moments, facial expressions, and movements with advanced 3D, 4D, and 5D imaging.

3D shows still images, 4D adds live movement, and 5D enhances with lifelike clarity and depth.

• Checks baby’s position
• Visualises heartbeat and movement 
• Measures head, abdomen, and femur length to monitor growth 
• Assesses amniotic fluid levels
• Checks blood flow from placenta to baby for placental health 
• Includes a diagnostic ultrasound report

• All 3D images and 4D video clips provided digitally at no extra cost

Before Your Scan
No need for a full bladder, but please ensure you are well hydrated for the best image quality.
 

Weeks 16-24

A specialist ultrasound to measure the length of your cervix and assess your risk of premature labour. The cervix helps keep your baby safe in the womb, and early monitoring can offer reassurance and guidance for ongoing care.

What's Included

• Suitable from 16 to 24 weeks
• Begins with an abdominal scan to check baby’s heartbeat and wellbeing
• Followed by a transvaginal scan (with empty bladder) for accurate cervical measurement
• Assesses for shortening or funneling of the cervix
• Typically takes around 5 minutes and is safe and comfortable
• Includes a diagnostic ultrasound report

Who May Benefit


You may be offered or choose this scan if:

• You’ve had a previous premature birth
• You’re expecting twins or multiples
• You’ve had cervical surgery (LLETZ, cone biopsy, etc.)
• You’ve experienced mid-trimester loss
• You had a previous C-section at full dilation
• You have a uterine anomaly (e.g. bicornuate uterus)
• You’re feeling anxious about the risk of preterm labour
